The biggest bottleneck when building legendary ships is the sea materials. This guide covers natural pearl drop rates, jellyfish skin, obsidian locations and crew roles in one place.
Natural Pearls needed: 5 (per ship)
Giant Jellyfish Skin: 10 (Phantom Ship)
Obsidian: 30 (Phantom Ship)
Obsidian per vein: 5 per ore vein
What Materials You Need
Phantom Ship: 5 Natural Pearls, 10 Giant Jellyfish Skin, 30 Obsidian
Assault Ship of the East: 5 Natural Pearls, 10 Giant Hydrothermal Salamander Skin, 10 Ambergris
Both ships cost 750,000 camp funds, 45,000 each of stone and lumber, 90,000 food, and 10 companions.
Natural Pearl Drop Rates
According to overseas guides, the rates are Pearlmoss Crocodile 5%, Megalodon 3%, Giant Ray 3%, Black Whale 2% and Giant Jellyfish 1%. The rates are low, so you need to hunt many of them, and pearls also come from rare sea relic chests. Building both ships requires at least 10.
Giant Jellyfish Skin
Giant Jellyfish and Giant Venomous Jellyfish drop 1–2 pieces each at a 100% rate. The 10 you need are the easiest of these materials to fill.
Obsidian
You can mine 5 from each ore vein on sea islands such as Bergel Island, so 6 veins give 30. It can also be found in rare sea relics. Bergel Island is covered together with ambergris in a separate guide.
Crew Role Assignment
Before setting sail, assign crew on the ship management screen for the ship you built.
Effects by Role
Gunner: The cannons can't fire if a gunner slot is empty, so fill all of them.
Carpenter: Repairs durability during combat.
First Mate: The ship holds its heading even when you let go of the helm.
Check Prerequisite Quests
After finishing the main quest "Wolf Hill" and completing the Greymane camp's second (Rekindled Embers) and third (Gathered Will) expansion quests, "To a Wider World" from the "Journey into the Unknown" line appears. These quest names are translated renderings of the English.
Suggested Farming Order
First collect the 10 jellyfish skins, which naturally stacks your pearl drop rolls.
Make rounds of the sea island ore veins to mine obsidian.
Fill in camp resources after checking the shortfall on the building mission requirements screen.
Sailing Ship Teleporter Materials
The sailing ship teleporter covered in the Auronui Island development order guide is said to be crafted at a workbench from 15 Glowing Ore, 5 Azurite and 10 Iron Ore. Glowing Ore is plentiful around Auronui Island, so it's convenient to pick up while gathering building materials.
Finding Ore Locations
An overseas guide says you can see Glowing Ore locations on the interactive map site (crimsondb.gg) by hiding everything and then turning on only Glowing Ore in the Sea category. We could not verify this site directly.

Obsidian: Sea island ore veins
Ambergris: Bergel Island

Key Summary
The two legendary ships have the same camp resources and companion count, differing only in sea materials. Both need 5 Natural Pearls, so whichever you build first, pearl supply is the biggest bottleneck. With such low pearl rates, it's realistic to cycle through multiple targets and build up slowly. Getting the blueprint takes a long time, so it's efficient to farm materials in parallel meanwhile.
💡 Tip: Pearl drop rates are low, so open rare sea relics too. A building dispatch takes 4 days and 4 hours, so send it as soon as the materials are gathered.
⚠ Drop rates and required amounts are based on an overseas guide (KeenGamer) and may change with patches. We couldn't confirm where to get salamander skin, so recheck the number of companions dispatched and the build time on the mission screen. Some official Korean names are unconfirmed.
