Breach Protocol is the hacking minigame where you match sequences in a code grid for rewards. This guide covers the rules and how to overlap sequences to claim several at once.
Minigame: Enter sequences in a code grid
Pick rule: Start on the top row, alternate row and column
Rewards: Money and components, or enemy debuffs
Progression: Breach Protocol skill under Intelligence
What is Breach Protocol
Breach Protocol starts when you hack an access point, enemy, turret or camera. Hacking a terminal gives small, medium or large rewards of money and components, while hacking enemies or cameras offers offensive options such as reducing quickhack costs, lowering damage resistance or disabling cameras. Bigger rewards usually need longer sequences.

Core rules
You always start on the top row. After picking a code, the next pick must come from the same column, then the same row as that code, alternating between columns and rows. You cannot click anywhere, so plan the path first. With a 4-slot buffer you can only fit one short sequence, so choose the most valuable one.
Overlapping sequences
To claim several sequences at once, plan a path that overlaps them. A code shared by two sequences advances both, but a code in only one resets the other. The trick is to chain them so one sequence's last code is the next one's first code. That way even a small buffer can clear all three.
Which reward to pick
Need money or components: the biggest reward sequence
In a fight: sequences that cut quickhack cost or lower resistance
While sneaking: camera or turret shutdown
With a small buffer: focus on the shortest sequence instead of overlapping
Leveling up
Breach Protocol is a skill under Intelligence and levels up through use. According to a fan wiki, higher levels increase breach time, components acquired, and eventually RAM and buffer by +1. The skill level cannot exceed your Intelligence level, and there are Perks to check in the Intelligence tree.
Common mistakes
Finishing one sequence and finding no next code in the final row or column: check that first
Clicking a code used by only one sequence and resetting another: route through shared codes only
Rushing without a plan because of the timer: decide the path first, then enter it in one go
Running out of buffer so the last sequence is cut off: count your slots first
Solver tools
The wiki mentions outside apps that solve grids automatically, but the puzzle is manageable in game, so this guide does not cover them.
💡 Tip: Scan the largest reward's codes first and look for shared codes to save buffer slots.
