Starting the Giant Stump quest
A Strong Wind Storm random event fells a huge tree in Cindersap Forest, west of Marnie's Ranch, leaving a stump. Open its question-mark dialog to start The Giant Stump quest, then repair it with 100 Hardwood. A raccoon moves in the next day. After each completed request, the next arrives 7 days later and the family grows.
Requests 1 and 2
Request 1: 5 Crab Pot shellfish (Clam, Cockle, Crayfish, Mussel, Oyster, Periwinkle or Snail) plus 1 seasonal Smoked Fish. Reward: 25 seeds (Carrot, Summer Squash, Broccoli or Powdermelon depending on the date).
Request 2: 1 seasonal Dried Fruit and 1 seasonal Jelly (in spring: Apricot, Cactus Fruit, Cherry, Coconut or Strawberry). Reward: Raccoon Journal.
Requests 3 and 4
Request 3: 1 seasonal Dried Mushrooms plus 5 Eggs (not Dinosaur), 5 Cave Carrot or 5 White Algae. Reward: Raccoon Hat.
Request 5 asks for two random items from a list: Bat Wing 20, Bug Meat 20, Coral 4, Diamond 1, Frozen Geode 5, Geode 8, Ghostfish 3, Magma Geode 3, Moss 10, Rusty Spoon 1, Sea Urchin 2, Slime 99, Topaz 3 or Trash 5. The reward is a Jungle Tank. From request 6 on, one of requests 1-5 repeats at random, and the reward is random too: 7 Fairy Dust, Book of Stars, the next unshipped item, Stardrop Tea or 25 seeds. Requests usually use current-season items, and one received on days 22-28 asks for next season's items. Completing 9 requests earns Good Neighbors and a cutscene.
Raccoon Wife's shop
After the first request you can use her shop, which barters instead of taking gold. Examples: Raccoon Journal for 999 Fiber (request 2 done), Mahogany Seed for 20 Coal (request 4), Raccoon Hat for 10 Mixed Seeds (request 3), Mixed Seeds for 1 Cave Carrot (request 4), Fairy Dust for 1 Mystic Syrup (request 6), and Jungle Tank for 5 Broken Glasses (request 5). After request 6 and claiming Foraging Mastery, 3 Mystery Boxes buy a Golden Mystery Box.
Pacing the requests
Each request unlocks 7 days after the last one, so all 9 take close to two months. A request received on days 22-28 of a season asks for next season's items, so check what will be available. Requests 1-4 all want processed goods, so a smoker, dehydrator, preserves jar, pickle jar and keg make life easier. Request 5 is random and can include slow items such as Slime 99 or Trash, so stockpile in advance.
