The Stardew Valley Fair on Fall 16 uses a fixed formula to score your Grange Display. This guide covers how to reach the 90-point first-place line, the Star Token shop prices and the spinning wheel odds, based on the Stardew Valley Wiki.
Date and hours: Fall 16, 9am-3pm (Pelican Town)
First place: 90+ points = 1,000 Star Tokens
Maximum score: 125 (needs Deluxe Fertilizer; 124 without it)
Token cap: 9,999
Grange Display prizes
1st place: 90+ points = 1,000 Star Tokens
2nd place: 75+ points = 500
3rd place: 60+ points = 250
4th place: under 60 points = 50
Disqualified: counts as 0 points but pays 750 - this happens if you include Mayor Lewis's shorts (per the wiki)
How the score is built
14 base points are added automatically.
Item-count points follow 2x-9 (x = items on display): 9 items give +9, 8 give +7, 5 give +1, and 4 or fewer go negative. Fill all nine slots, even with junk.
Each recognized category on display adds 5 points, capped at 30. The eight categories are Animal Products, Artisan Goods, Cooking, Fish, Foraging (including flowers and tree saps), Fruits, Minerals and Vegetables, so six categories are enough for the full 30.
Each item earns points from its actual sell price and quality, up to 8 per item.
Item points by sell price and quality
0g+: Normal 1 / Silver 2 / Gold 3 / Iridium 5
20g+: Normal 2 / Silver 3 / Gold 4 / Iridium 6
90g+: Normal 3 / Silver 4 / Gold 5 / Iridium 7
200g+: Normal 4 / Silver 5 / Gold 6 / Iridium 8
300g+: Normal 5 / Silver 6 / Gold 6 / Iridium 8
400g+: Normal 6 / Silver 6 / Gold 6 / Iridium 8
Hitting 90 and 125 points
Sell price here is the actual price, so the profit margin chosen at farm creation changes the points. Nine 8-point items across six or more categories give 14+72+9+30 = 125, the maximum. Eight-point vegetables need Iridium-quality crops from Deluxe Fertilizer; without it the best vegetable is an Iridium Fiddlehead Fern at 7 points, so the cap is 124. To simply win first place, eight 4-point items plus one 5-point item across six categories gives 14+37+9+30 = 90. Note that Roe and Dinosaur Egg are not counted as animal products and score as uncategorized items.
Earning Star Tokens - minigames and the wheel
Fishing minigame (50g): each fish gives 12-25 points with bonuses for perfect catches; over 800 tokens per 50g is possible.
Slingshot minigame (50g): red targets 1 point, blue 2, purple 5, with up to a 4x multiplier at 100% accuracy; up to 500 tokens per 50g.
Smashing Stone: free, 1 token for each well-timed hit.
Token Seller: 50g per token - the least efficient but fastest option.
Spinning Wheel: without Luck, green comes up about 73.3% of the time and orange about 26.6%. The wiki's expected-value analysis says betting about 46.7% of your tokens on green grows them fastest while protecting against losses. Past spins do not affect later ones. Luck gives a chance to rescue a losing spin (Luck/15 when betting green, Luck/20 for orange), so eat Luck food before you enter.
